Notes:
Christine Southgate writes: In the course of investigating my family history I have discovered that my great grandfather, Albert James Booker, was head gardener at Coley Park Farm in 1891, aged 37. I think he must have been there until he retired, as he was living there in 1901. He had 13 children, one of whom was my grandmother. He was allowed to help himself to the vegetables he grew in the vegetable garden - one of the perks of the job. (Read more of Albert James Booker on this page...)
